Nutrients That Help You Beat Aging

Must Read

Skin aging is a natural process as it is often the outcome of internal and external factors around us. It is amusing to study how the nutrition we take in is connected to our skin condition. A Clinical Nutritionist, Shivika Seth, expresses, “we all are ardent to look as fresh and youthful as possible, and although there’s no way to pause or travel back in time yet some nutrients may succor decelerate signs of aging.”

So, here are nutrients that can slow down aging –

  1. Vitamin C

Vitamin C is a vital part of human skin that gains from stimulating the biosynthesis of collagen. Since collagen is a natural filler substance for the skin, our skin ages as the degree of collagen in the skin decreases. This results in the formation of fine lines and wrinkles as well as a decline in volume and contours in the aging skin.

  1. Lycopene

From the carotenoid family, Lycopene is important for maturing skin as they form an outer layer of skin. With higher levels of carotenoid in these layers, the skin becomes firmer and more hydrated, reduces the formation of wrinkles as well as increases levels of collagen production. Foods containing lycopene include tomatoes, watermelon, pink grapefruit, pink guava, and papaya.

  1. Vitamin E

Vitamin E is a complex combination of eight compounds called tocopherols, a fat-soluble membrane committed as an antioxidant. Consuming sources of natural vitamin E, such as avocado, sunflower seeds, and almonds, works against collagen. Cross-linking and lipid peroxidation is linked to the aging of the skin.

  1. Vitamin B3

According to a study, vitamin B3 is an enzyme in our cells that can slow down the aging process. Also known as nicotinamide riboside (NR) chloride or NIAGEN or nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD), vitamin B3 is found in all cells and can repair DNA.

  1. Zinc

This anti-aging nutrient prevents the formation of wrinkles by boosting the cells at the molecular level. This results in new youthful cells forming at the skin surface. It also functions as an antioxidant and works against skin aging.
