Navin Ramgoolam: The Country Is Suffering From Government Amateurism

Must Read

According to the leader of the Labour Party, Navin Ramgoolam, the third wave of Covid 19 is currently wreaking havoc in the country. He added that the authorities are incompetent and amateurish. They are not able to manage the situation.  Every day brings its share of contamination, and the situation is going from bad to worse.

Navin Ramgoolam has also criticised the Minister of Education, Leela Devi Dookhun Luchumun, after the upsurge of cases of Covid-19 recorded in recent weeks among students and teaching and non-teaching staff. The Minister shows such carelessness even though several institutions had to close its doors to allow teams of the Ministry of Health to proceed with the decontamination of the institutions concerned.

For the Labor party Leader, the inaction of the Minister puts schoolchildren in danger. Another subject discussed during this press conference was the supposed rapprochement between the Labour Party and the Alliance l’Espoir which brings together the PMSD, the MMM, the Reform Parrty of Roshi Bhadain and Nando Bodha. “There is no alliance in sight with these political parties”, underlines Navin Ramgoolam before specifying that the Labour Party is not looking for any alliance. “It is they who want an alliance with us. We do not accept any humiliation of anyone,” he said.

So far as the leader of the PTr is concerned, “the opponent is not Xavier-Luc Duval, Nando Bodha, Paul Berenger or Roshi Bhadain. It is the MSM.”

Navin Ramgoolam also commented on the Speakership of Sooroojdev Phookeer and promised changes “if the PTr returns to power“.

He also commented on the revision of the pension system with the introduction of the Generalized Social Contribution (CSG), which he described as an “unsustainable” project. He is surprised by the difference between the public and private sectors in this bill.
