Oodesh Heerlall, 37 years old known as Rookesh met a sad end in the early hours of this Saturday morning, January 29. The motorcycle he was riding, a blue Yamaha, collided head-on with an oncoming contract bus on Route Royale, from Argy to Flacq. The thirty-year-old did not survive his injuries. His passenger, a 28-year-old man, was seriously injured. He was taken to the Dr Bruno Cheong hospital in Flacq where he underwent surgery.
It was around 1:30 a.m. this Saturday morning, January 29, that the Flacq police station was alerted to an accident on Route Royale in Argy. A motorcycle and a contract bus collided. The motorcyclist and the passenger on the bus, a resident of Quatre-Cocos, were lying on the asphalt. An ambulance from the Emergency Medical Service was called to the scene. The doctor on board could only determine the death of Oodesh Heerlall, the driver of the motorcycle. His passenger, who was seriously injured, was evacuated by ambulance to the hospital in Flacq. After being treated, he underwent surgery. His condition is considered serious.
The 35 year old driver of the Contract bus, a resident of Dagotiere, was given a breathalyzer test. The test was negative. After his statement was recorded, he was placed in custody in a cell at the police station in Rivière-Sèche.
According to the driver of this Contract bus, the motorcyclist coming from Flacq was driving in the direction of the village Isidore Rose, at a certain point on the Route Royale d’Argy he changed lanes and collided head-on with the oncoming vehicle.
Oodesh Heerlall’s funeral took place yesterday, Saturday, January 29 at 3:00 pm. He was cremated at the Laventure Crematory.
