London: Pravind Jugnauth Discusses Future Investment Plans Of Rs 14.4 Billion With Curzon And Arrival Ltd

In addition to the COP26 conference in Glasgow, the PM had a meeting with investors from Curzon and Arrival, which bore fruit because the Bouchon will soon be under construction; with an investment of Rs 14.4 Billion that would lead to the creation of more than 5000 new direct jobs.

On Friday 5th November, the honourable Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth met with Curzon’s Chief Executive Officer, Martin Brage, and discussed the company’s future investment plans in Mauritius. During the meeting, Brage said he intends to invest in various sectors, including real estate, tourism, R&D incubators, green energy and smart technologies. This UK-based investment company will develop a pipeline of projects under the ‘Smart City Scheme’ in Le Bouchon.

The project will involve a total investment of around £240 million (MUR 14.4 billion) and will create some 5,200 jobs over a 5-year period. UK investors will put in place the right infrastructure to attract UK entrepreneurs, international start-ups and multinationals.

In addition to his meeting with Curzon, the Prime Minister also held a meeting with Mr Denis Sverdlov, Founder and Managing Director of Arrival Ltd in London.

The Prime Minister discussed the establishment of a micro-factory by Arrival to manufacture electric vehicles in Mauritius. The Prime Minister said that to solve the global climate crisis, vehicles on the road should be as clean as possible and that international demand for such vehicles would increase. Arrival’s project for the manufacture of the next generation of vehicles and fleet management in Mauritius is part of the climate agenda to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals discussed this week in Glasgow at COP26.
