Literacy: The Rotary Club Of Montebello Is Committed

Must Read

Access to education is a right. Unfortunately, in adulthood, it’s not always accessible.  The Rotary Club of Montebello offered a free literacy course for local adults.

Education for all is at the heart of the values embodied by Rotary International. To promote adult inclusion and empowerment, members of the Rotary Club of Montebello, under the leadership of President Raj Jeewon, have taken the initiative to set up a literacy course.

From March 8 to June 28, 2023, the course was held at the Pailles community center every Wednesday. Among other things, beneficiaries learned how to fill in bank forms, use the ATM, make a shopping list, interpret their expenses and bills on a receipt, learn bus timetables, use Google Map, discover and read recipes and write the address on an envelope.

As a reminder, Rotary International’s motto is ‘Service Above Self’ and the theme for the 2022- 2023 Rotary year is ‘Imagine Rotary’. The Rotary Club of Montebello is aware that it cannot change the world, but firmly believes that over time, project by project, it can help make a difference.
