In Flic En Flac: Nicholas Desroches Arrested With More Than Rs 2 Million Of Imported Cannabis

“A raid by police officers from the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (Adsu) of the Western Division and those of the Special Striking Team of the Police Headquarters in a bungalow in Flic en Flac this Friday morning, November 11, led to the arrest of Stephan Nicholas Desroches for drug trafficking. This suspect was found in possession of a large quantity of imported cannabis worth Rs 2,322,000 and a sum of Rs 306,000 suspected to come from the sale of this drug.

After hours of surveillance, Inspector Moheswa’s men and Assistant Superintendent of Police Ashik Jagai stormed the home of Nicholas Desroches. This exercise resulted in the discovery of a resealable plastic containing 695 grams of compressed cannabis, another plastic with 853 grams of the same drug, 60 resealable plastics suspected to be used for the packaging of cannabis, an electronic scale and a piece of black cloth, which contained 3 bundles of denominations of Rs 1,000, the whole totalling the sum of Rs 306,000. The ADSU suspects that this money is from the sale of this drug.

In addition, the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (ADSU) of Metro North raided the home of Christian Denis Azemoth, a 47 year old contractor, known as Christian Dizef, on Abercrombie Street, St. Croix on Thursday, November 10. This individual was suspected of being involved in drug trafficking for some time. This operation resulted in the seizure of 97.42 grams of heroin, 24.16 grams of synthetic drugs and a sum of Rs 180 675. This amount of money is suspected to be from the sale of this drug. The value of the seized drugs is Rs 1 582 100.

It is on the basis of certain information and hours of surveillance that this team, led by sergeant Sookur, landed at this contractor. A search carried out at his residence made it possible to find 97.42 grams of heroin divided into several doses and wrapped in adhesive tape and 24.16 grams of synthetic drug. The market value of the heroin is Rs 1,461,300 and the synthetic drug is Rs 120,800.

The suspect was also found in possession of Rs 180,675. The ADSU suspects this money to be from the sale of the drug. Christian Azemoth was arrested on a charge of drug trafficking.
