Must Read

Based on information received, a team from Central Division’s Divisional Supporting Unit (DSU) visited the home of an events manager in Blue Bay in the early hours of Monday morning, December 11. A search of the 35-year-old man’s home turned up a 0.22 mm Brevettata revolver with six bullets. Suspect Jean Sébastien Li Kwak Tat, who does not hold a firearms permit, was arrested.

At around 4:15 am on the morning of Monday December 11, DSU officers, armed with a search warrant, stormed the home of Jean Sébastien Li Kwat Tat. The exercise proved fruitful, and the information obtained turned out to be true. In a wooden cupboard in the bedroom, a 0.22mm black and brown Brevettata revolver with six bullets was discovered.

The suspect was brought before the Mahebourg court the same day on a provisional charge of illegal possession of a firearm. He was then taken back to his cell at the Curepipe police station.

An investigation has been launched to find out where the gun came from and whether it is registered with the Central Barracks firearms registry. The revolver has been sent to the ballistics section of the Forensic Science Laboratory in Reduit to find out if it has ever been used.
