The Horse Racing Division (HRD) had working session with the trainers and their representatives, this Friday, February 4, 2022, at their office at Level 5, Newton Tower, Port-Louis.
After discussions, the date of April 9 was chosen to kick off the 2022 Racing season. It is three weeks later than the proposed calendar of the Mauritius Turf Club Sports and Leisure (MTCSL) who wanted to start on March 19. The MTCSL will have to come with a new schedule for the next racing season.
The HRD was represented by the Australian Wayne Wood (Head of Division), the Indian Subramaniyam Mahendher (Stipe and Handicapper) and Jean Hugues Olivier (Communication And Media Officer).
Other meetings are scheduled in the coming days between the trainers and the HRD. Discussions will be around the calendar for the season, and the handicapping rules.
