Her House Robbed, She Suspects Her Father

Rs 547,000. This is the amount of loot that a 31-year-old woman entrepreneur alleges was taken from her house in Morcellement Petit-Village, Poudre d’Or. The thirty-year-old woman, who reported the theft to the local police station, said she suspected her father-in-law of being the perpetrator. However, her estranged husband gave a statement to the police to exonerate his father and said that all the items, which his wife alleges were stolen, belong to her father.

It was on the evening of Wednesday, April 13, that the woman went to the Poudre d’Or police station to report the theft from her home between 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 11 and 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13. An aluminium door in her house was forced open and this is how the suspect gained access. Eight surveillance cameras and its DVR, a circuit breaker, documents, a set of keys, two computers, a chest of drawers, eight Hindu deities, a set of kitchen utensils, a refrigerator, a tumble dryer, a washing machine, clothes in a cupboard, two air conditioners, a television set, a safe containing about Rs 17,000 and jewellery, including a gold bracelet and two pairs of earrings were stolen. The whole lot is estimated to be worth Rs 547,000.

The 30-year-old said her house is under camera surveillance and she suspects her father-in-law of being the perpetrator. In the same evening, her estranged husband went to the same police station to refute this statement. He has been living with his father in Cottage for some time and explained to the police that the house in Poudre d’Or belongs to his father, as well as the furniture and appliances.

Since his separation, he told investigators, his wife has not been on good terms with her parents.
