Growing Insecurity In Albion

Must Read

Residents consider request from authorities to increase the number of Albion police officers. A meeting between the leaders of the Albion community, the village councillors and the authorities was held on Saturday 24 July at the Albion police station to find a solution to the growing feeling of insecurity in this part of the country.

The inhabitants of Albion are indeed on the alert especially after the robbery with violence of which a lady and her driver were victim in front of their entrance gate last Friday, July 23. An aggression that was filmed by one of the surveillance cameras of the house and that has been making the rounds of social networks since.

According to the inhabitants, this act of violence is common in the region, hence the fact that several ‘neighborhood watch’ groups have been created. However, this does not discourage the thugs.

During the meeting on Saturday, the authorities assured the residents of their support. The problem is that there are not enough police officers assigned to Albion.

Indeed, according to the electoral list, nearly 4,000 people are registered. However, according to a village councilor, more than 7,000 people live in the area, especially with the new subdivisions. However, the police have only about 30 members on staff to serve the area.

Residents have been advised to apply to the relevant authorities for an increase in the number of Albion police officers. In the process, a request that the CID office, which was transferred from Albion to Petite Riviere, be moved back to Albion.
