Fully Vaccinated Status: Health Minister Asks For 24 Hours To Assess Deadline

Must Read

It is clear that not everyone will be able to be vaccinated with the Booster dose until January 15. Minister Jagutpal, at the NCC session on Thursday 13th, asked for 24 hours to reassess and reconsider certain areas. This rush is especially worrying for those who will not be able to access their workplaces, including civil servants!

Currently, the Ministry of Health is focusing on public health institutions, police and fire stations, educational institutions, reform institutions, probation centres, the port and airport, dormitories, restaurants, hotels and sports complexes.

“If the rate of Booster Dose vaccine recipients is low, it will certainly have an impact on operations. We will take a final decision within 24 hours,” said Minister Kailesh Jagutpal, who recalled that the call for the third dose has been vigorously made since October 2021 and that according to the ministry’s estimates, “we should have registered more than 500,000 people vaccinated with the third dose. To date only 238,122 have done so and that is less than 50%.

By 15 January 2022, fully vaccinated status will apply only to those inoculated with the booster dose and will be banned from many public and commercial places. The same will apply to tertiary students for access to their universities and even examinations. The Open University of Mauritius has already circulated this requirement. Otherwise, they will have to present a negative PCR test, less than seven days old.

Health restrictions maintained until the end of March

As far as health restrictions are concerned, they all remain unchanged as announced by the Prime Minister on 12 November 2021. Dr Jagutpal confirmed to the public that there will be no change for the better or worse until the end of March 2022, when a new assessment of the pandemic situation will be made.
