Must Read

Finally, Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam left Mauritius for New Delhi on a SpiceJet Boeing 737-8GJ, with a stopover at Thiruvananthapuram ( India) for refuelling and then proceed to Delhi thereafter. The Air Ambulance was able to leave the tarmac at 9 pm instead of 7.30 pm.

Departure from Wellkin at 6pm

The first transfer from Wellkin Hospital to SSRIA Airport was made at around 6pm in two ambulances. One was carrying Dr Navin Ramgoolam and the other was on standby in case of an unforeseen breakdown. Both vehicles were escorted by police motorcyclists. The Air Ambulance reached the tarmac at SSRIA at around 6pm as well.

Statements and support from the ‘Rouges’ under emotion

The procession was preceded by various statements to the press by the Labour Party members, including Ehsan Juman, Fabrice David and Dr Farhad Aumeer and spokesperson on the state of health of the concerned person who said: “We are satisfied with the evolution of his health condition“. The Labour Party’s leader is doing very well for this transfer. The adviser, Dr Zouberr Joomye said that “It is thanks to the intervention of the Prime Minister and the Indian High Commissioner, Nandini Singla, that the plane could be chartered to transfer Navin Ramgoolam.” He also responded to a question from the press where he made it clear that “the government has not only vouched for but also incurred the cost for the transfer of Dr Navin Ramgoolam. The undertaking will be under the responsibility of the PTR, a member has already signed,” he revealed. The Wellkin Hospital courtyard was packed with emotional his supporters. There were even messages “No. 10 stands with you. Get well soon” and “National Prayer for Prompt Recovery. Dr Navin Ramgoolam. God Bless You“.

Supplementary 1 hour 30 minutes delay!

Boarding was done in compliance with the health rules and precautionary measures around 7.30 pm but it could not take off at 7.30 pm. There was a final delay of one and a half hour instead of 7.30 pm, the reason being that an aircraft was in the take-off area of the Boeing 737-8GJ and had to be moved off the tarmac. The aircraft took off at 9 pm sharp. This must have been a gruelling medical transfer for the former Head of Government!

Navin Ramgoolam, at 74 years of age, returned to flying after 6 years, but in painful conditions. He had been stuck on Mauritian soil because of his legal problems. As soon as he arrived in Delhi, he will be transferred to AIIMS by ambulance. He will be taken care of by a team already dispatched for this purpose. He will be prepared immediately for his pulmonary treatment and Covid.
