The government must take its responsibilities and stop blaming citizens after the resurgence of positive cases to the Covid 19. This is what Bruneau Laurette, President of LInion Sitwayin Morisien said in a press conference this Friday, November 12.
According to him, it is by removing certain restrictions, such as allowing picnics in groups of 30 people or making the population believe that the pandemic is under control that the authorities have allowed some relaxation on the part of the population.
Bruneau Laurette also wondered why the Government has still not explained how the Delta variant arrived in Mauritius.
He also made a plea to support the medical profession which is going through a very difficult time during this pandemic. A crisis situation, he said, requires exceptional decisions and according to him, the government must call upon the retired medical corps and set up a system of reservists to relieve those working in the medical sector. Rest, according to him, is important for people in the medical profession, hence his call to the government.
Bruneau Laurette also argued that antiviral drugs and those for the prevention of Covid 19 are also important.
He also advocates for state support to families who have lost their loved ones to Covid 19 while they were vaccinated because they were forced to do so.
He also addresses the fact that nothing has been done about restrictions on public transportation.
On another note, he also raised the possible problems that those taking the online courses will face, such as the fact that there are some families with multiple children and only one television or computer.
According to Bruneau Laurette, it would have been necessary to better prepare these online courses as well as to provide facilities to the poor families so that they can get the adequate equipment or the Internet packages.
