On the advice of the Director of Prosecutions, the District Court of Port-Louis has struck out a provisional charge against the lawyer, Mr Akil Bissessur.
He had been provisionally charged with breach of the ICTA as he had posted videos on the Chief Executive Officer of Mauritius Telecom, Mr Sherry Singh, who complained that these videos were defamatory.
Nevertheless, the Court has struck out the charge. However, Akil Bissessur is still facing civil proceedings where Mr Singh is claiming Rs 100 M as damages for tarnishing his image.
