Back In Mauritius, Mike Brasse Spends His First Night In A Cell In Mauritius

Must Read

Mauritian skipper Mike Brasse was repatriated to Mauritius on Monday 24 January after serving a six-year prison sentence in Reunion Island for drug trafficking. He had been convicted for heroin trafficking, estimated at Rs 600 million.

He had indeed been arrested by the Reunion gendarmerie, on November 11, 2016, with on his off board 42.2 kg of heroin.

As soon as he got off the plane in Mauritius he was placed in Moka detention. The Mauritian investigators want to shed light on several areas of darkness. In particular on the fact that he was given a Mauritian passport very quickly on September 17, 2016 five days after his application when he had just lost one, even though he could not travel.

It is suspected that he would have benefited from the help of Mario Nobin, who at the time occupied the position of police commissioner. The latter was arrested on December 29, 2020. A charge of provisional using office for gratification was brought against Mario Nobin.

The interrogation of Mike Brasse will continue this Tuesday, January 25.
