Eighty-eight. This is the number of deaths recorded on our roads since the beginning of this year. Michaël Rudy Denis Fidèle, 21 years old, was added to this series on Sunday morning, October 4. This resident of Stateland Cité La Cure had been seriously injured in a fall on his moped on Sunday September 26 in Lecornu, Ste-Croix.
It was around 2:20 in the late afternoon of Sunday, September 26 when Rudy Fidèle was seriously injured in a fall in Lecornu, St. Croix. He was driving a New Way moped when he skidded and fell to the ground. The young man was evacuated to the Dr. A.G. Jeetoo Hospital, Port-Louis on board an ambulance of the Emergency Medical Service. After first aid was administered, he was admitted to the intensive care unit where he was placed on artificial respiration.
The autopsy performed on the body of this young man in the afternoon of Sunday, October 4 by Dr. Maxwell Monvoisin, Principal Police Medical Officer, attributed his death to a skull fracture.
An investigation has been initiated at the Abercrombie, St. Croix Police Station to determine the exact circumstances of this accident.
