The PMSD-Rodrigues is running in alliance with the Rodrigues Patriotic Ecological Front of Johnson Roussety for the regional elections in Rodrigues. The new platform has been named the Rodrigues Alliance. Mamade Khodabaccus, secretary general of the PMSD, explained that the procedures were completed this Tuesday for the registration of the PMSD-Rodrigues but also of the Rodrigues Alliance. According to him the PMSD-Rodrigues is the second party in Rodrigues.
The second coalition brings together the Union of the People of Rodrigues (UPR), the Rodrigues Independence Movement (MIR) and the Rodrigues Militant Movement (MMR).
Thus, eight political parties and two alliances have registered for the Rodrigues regional elections scheduled for Sunday, February 13.
This information was communicated by the electoral commissioner, Irfan Rahmann on Tuesday afternoon, January 11, at the closing of the registration office.
This exercise was to be completed this Tuesday before the Nomination Day of January 22. The Rodriguan People’s Organization (OPR) will be the only candidate, as well as the Rodriguan Movement (MR) and the Patriotic Movement (MP) of Jean Claude Barbier. The MP which for the occasion will have a symbolic participation in these elections with 3 or 4 candidates all from Rodrigues.
Note that the regional elections in Rodrigues have been set for February 13.
The arrival of Christian Leopold, former MP, who had retired from the political scene for more than 10 years has surprised many. He registered his party, the Mouvement Militant Rodriguais.
Johnson Roussety thanked all those who support the Rodriguan Alliance FPR-PMSD. He wrote:

Johnson Roussety who should arrive in Rodrigues in the coming days.
His candidacy is still under debate because according to the Rodrigues Regional Assembly Act, a candidate must be present in Rodrigues for 6 months before registration of candidates. But the RPF leader was in Australia for more than six months.
However, Johnson Rousssety’s place of residence has always been in Rodrigues.
But the status of resident has no specific definition in the law and in the event that there is a challenge to the candidacy of Johnson Roussety for the regional elections, it will be the Supreme Court to decide according to some legal experts.
