Turning Point This Saturday For 18 Pilots Of Air Mauritius

Must Read

There are 18 pilots in the hot seat. The decision on their possible dismissal will be heard by the Redundancy Board this Saturday 7 August. These pilots can only fly Airbus A319 and A340 aircrafts, however, these are no longer part of the Air Mauritius fleet.

The request to dismiss the 18 pilots was submitted to the Redundancy Board by Senior Attorney, Rajesh Bucktowansing under Section 72 A of the Workers’ Rights Act. It was also announced that in the process of rescuing the national airline, the highest paid personnel will be targeted for possible dismissal. At the same time, we learn that about half of the crew is threatened to go overboard. They could be 1,000 out of 2,300 from various departments to lose their jobs with no rescue plan for them, just like the 18 pilots in the actual ejection plan.

This official statement by the duo Sattar Hajee Abdoula and Arvind Gokhool is chilling. It is worth noting that the latest report at the end of June revealed that the national airline had debts of Rs 6.1 billion.

In the course of the case, the duo is represented by Senior Attorney, Rajesh Bucktowansing, the employees by Alexandre Marot, the president of the Mauritius Airline Pilots Association.

AMCCA against Air Mauritius!

The management of Air Mauritius is not out of the woods yet. The Air Mauritius Cabin Crew Association (AMCCA) is challenging the health protocol and wants to bring to the attention of the International Transport Workers Federation and the International Trade Union Confederation the methods of managing the current pandemic crisis for crew members before, during and after their flights and their periods of self-isolation.
