The diocese held a working meeting yesterday morning in collaboration with government authorities, in the presence of the Minister of the Environment, Solid Waste Management and Climate Change, the Honorable Kavydass Ramano, and the Mayor of Quatre-Bornes, Mr. Dooshiant Ramluckhun, to examine the damage to the Saint Jean cemetery caused by an accumulation of water on Old Moka Road.

Various temporary and medium-term solutions were considered to protect the cemetery. Urgent measures will be implemented immediately, including the installation of floodgates in front of the church gate, a structural assessment and the construction of a reinforced concrete wall.

A full sanitary inspection of the cemetery will also be carried out as soon as possible by the Ministry of Health.

Despite these initiatives, the cemetery remains closed to visitors for safety reasons.
