Originating from the Tibetan tradition, singing bowls now have their place in Mauritian homes. But what exactly are they used for ? Here is an answer with Le Matinal.
In the Buddhist philosophy, singing bowls have several benefits. However, they are most appreciated for their purifying power. « Singing bowls emit the sound AUM which is reputed to be a frequency with the power to purify the energies of the body, and even of spaces, such as homes or offices. It is the harmony that this sound brings that has largely contributed to the popularity of these bowls among Mauritians, » explains Rajiv Deepchand, of World of Fortune Feng Shui Shop located in Quatre-Bornes.
For a singing bowl to be truly effective, two parameters must be respected : « First, no sound will emanate from your bowl if you are not spiritually connected to it. Second, it won’t do you any good if you don’t have faith in its powers, » Rajiv explains.
There are different types of singing bowls on the market, but not all of them are effective. In fact, for a singing bowl to be effective, its composition must be made of 5 metals. A singing bowl with an alloy of 7 metals is rare, but very effective.
As for the price, a singing bowl costs between Rs 600 and Rs 3000 depending on the size and the alloy.
