Silver Medallist Mikey Denis Arrested With Heroin

Must Read

The two brothers, Louis Hugues Mikey and Brandon Denis, have been under surveillance by the Anti Drug Unit since some time. They have been arrested at ‘Avenue des Empereurs’ on 16th August by the ‘Anti Drug And Smuggling Unit’ during a successful operation.  Mikey Denis, aged 30 years and residing in Albion, was driving a 4X4 pick-up and was followed by his brother Brandon Denis, aged 28 years and residing in Roche Bois, who was riding a motorcycle. Upon their arrest, the police officers found and seized 2,92 kg of heroin in the vehicle driven by Mikey Denis. The market value of the drugs is estimated around Rs 43,8 million.

Mikey Denis works as a butcher but he is mostly well-known as the boxer who won a silver medal in the category of 58 kgs during the last Indian Ocean Games in 2019 where he represented Mauritius. The investigators think that the brothers operate for a drug network in the region of Roche Bois.

Mikey Denis

During his interrogation, the boxer Louis Jean Hugues Mikey Denis (30 years old) declared that he was facing financial difficulties. This silver medalist at the Olympic Games did not want to explain how he got into drugs. But he has never been in trouble with the law in the past, unlike his brother who was arrested in 2012 for a theft case.

Both were charged in Bambous court on a provisional charge of possession of heroin for the purpose of distribution, with a charge of trafficking.” and are currently in custody.
