Reopening Of Borders: 600 Confirmed Arrivals

They are both Mauritians returning home and tourists. Spread over two Aircraft from Air Mauritius and one from Emirates Airline, they will be 600 to reach Mauritian soil at the SSR airport of pleasure this Thursday 15 of July.

An arrival under control awaits these 600 passengers. They will have to go through the line that correspond them, Vaccinated or Unvaccinated, present a certificate of negative PCR test carried out five to seven days before boarding and proof of reservation in one of the 24 hotels under the title of Covid 19 Safe Resort for a stay of at least 15 days. They will then be able to board their respective hotel shuttles for the start of their holidays in quarantine or all Inclusive!

Vaccinated and unvaccinated in quarantine

Vaccinated travellers will occupy one of the fourteen certified hotels. They will benefit from the facilities and leisure of the establishments throughout their quarantine. And if tested negative for the third PCR, the island will be open to them.

For unvaccinated travellers, it will be a lockdown that awaits them in one of the 10 quarantine hotels. They will be confined in their rooms but will be offered room services. They will be eased on the 14th day under the condition of a negative PCR test.

They are coming from Paris and Dubai. For those who will reach the island via the Emirates Airline it will not be only Dubai but diverse since Dubai remains a hub for travelers of different origins. Among Mauritians, there are many under the title of Visit Family and Relatives- VFR. Passengers are under an average to long stay but all with a minimum booking of 14 days and 14 nights. In short, we welcome tourists and business visitors. They are the ones who contribute to our tourism and economic recovery.

It is expected that this first phase, synonym of a good omen for the grand reopening of the 1 October, will represent a fill rate of 20 to 25%. Various operators and hotels remain optimistic about the success of this phase of preparation for the total recovery.

In addition, the SSR Airport Taxi Associations and the General Taxi Owner’s Union will continue their Sit In on Thursday 15 at the entrance of the SSR airport at 08:30. This is due to the restriction from the Ministry of Tourism to allow them to transport passengers who get to their hotels.
