A blue Subaru Impreza rally car taking part in a legal car rally organised by ASA Michelin on the afternoon of Sunday 10 September skidded off the La Pipe Road circuit in Dubreuil and crashed into a concrete electricity pylon. The vehicle also tore down several wooden poles and damaged a metal fence on the Midlands Gallery Range of the Special Mobile Force (SMF). The driver of the car, who lives in Vacoas, suffered minor injuries.
The accident occurred at around 4pm on Sunday 10 September. The Subaru Impreza was taking part in a legal car rally organised by ASA Michelin. As the vehicle was travelling along the Route de La Pipe in Dubreuil, the driver had to take control of his vehicle. The vehicle first collided head-on with a concrete pylon, before tearing off several wooden posts and around 20 metres of metal fencing on the SMF Midlands Gallery Range in Midlands.
The injured driver was rushed to the Artemis Clinic in Curepipe. After receiving treatment, he was able to return home. An investigation has been launched at Dubreuil police station to shed light on the exact circumstances of this accident.
