Teekambur Beefa, 50 years old, was arrested on Wednesday 9 February after the discovery of a large quantity of cannabis at his home in Montagne Blanche. The market value of this drug is Rs 1 million. His arrest was made by the men of Inspector Ranchurn of the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (ADSU) of the Eastern Division.
The ADSU raided his home based on information that this suspect was involved in drug trafficking.
Indeed, a plot containing 59 grams of cannabis and a raffia bag with 1.2 kilos of the same drug were found. The suspect was arrested and placed in a cell at the Moka detention center on the orders of the assistant superintendent of police, Satyadave Bacharam. This Thursday, February 10, he was brought before the court in Flacq where he is facing a provisional charge of drug trafficking.
In addition, a Crackdown Operation was conducted by ADSU officers from the Southern Division in the village of Chamarel on Wednesday, February 9. This exercise resulted in the arrest of two people. The first arrest was that of Anthony Emmanuel L’intelligentsia, a 34-year-old driver, who was arrested with 60.8 grams of cannabis and Rs 234,950. This money is suspected to come from the sale of drugs. While the second arrest was that of Louis Cliff Bordelais, 58 years old, he was arrested with 82 grams of cannabis, 46grains and a sum of Rs 1600.
