This terrible discovery was made by a customs officer at Plaisance airport on the evening of Saturday, January 1. It was during a routine inspection exercise. A foetus was found in the waste bin onboard aircraft MK 289 during a search rummage by cans. The newborn male child was in a trash can in the toilet of flight MK 289 from Madagascar.
Police and Health Authorities are looking into the matter. The mother who dumped the newborn in the dustbin has been identified. The newborn is still alive and has been under care of the health authorities.
All this happened yesterday in the flight coming from Madagascar.
The airport police questioned the passengers who disembarked on the flight, and one of the passengers aroused the suspicion of the investigators. She denied the facts. However, she was subjected to a medical examination which confirmed that she had just given birth. She is under observation in the hospital under police surveillance and will have to be subjected again to a close interrogation after her discharge from the institution.
The lady is a Malagasy national of twenty-one years old. She has been identified and is under detention. She is newly employed by a Mauritius company on a 2-years contract and was scheduled to start working very shortly.
