The leaders of the Platforme de L’Espoir faced the press this Saturday. Nando Bodha spoke about the alleged leak of exam papers, and first fired a shot against the Minister of Education. “She said in the Parliament that there was no leakage because these were not the final papers sent to Cambridge to be printed. Now, everyone knows that they were leaked. It is clear,” he said.
Nando Bodha added that this concerns about 30 questionnaires for 7 subjects. He explained that “since then, everything has been locked up and they are trying to trivialize the situation.” Nando Bodha deplored the fact that the credibility of the Mauritius Examinations Syndicate has been greatly damaged, and he is of the opinion that it must be restored. As a result, he called for the resignation of MES’ director, Brenda Thanacoody-Soborun due to incompetence. “We cannot”, he says, “sacrifice the future of our children. This is just more proof that the country is in over its head.”

Xavier-Luc Duval, visibly fluent this Saturday, also mentioned the expulsion of three MMM parliamentarians, namely Joanna Bérenger, Karen Foo Kune-Bacha and Arianne Navarre-Marie. “They did not hit anyone. They did not insult anyone. All they said was that there was injustice, and they were expelled,” he lamented. But the worst part of the story, according to him, is that the Speaker, who “is the laughing stock“, is the same one, who is representing Mauritius at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie currently in Morocco.

For him, the institutions are rotting, one after the other. All this is because of the MSM. He also referred to the alleged police torture cases and deplored the decision of the Independent Police Complaints Commission not to object to the release on bail of the arrested police officers. For the MMM leader, the police have been shaken to their foundation and the IPCC is a stillborn institution. He mentioned as example that “the President of the organization never speaks, while one of her assistants, a political nominee, gives interviews in spades. As for the other nominee, he is a bought and paid for lawyer Ramchurn”.
Paul Berenger also predicted a cascade of increasing prices in the coming days because of the depreciation of the rupee.
