Moped Rider Kills Himself By Colliding With A Wall

Yasdeo Mungur, 63, did not survive his injuries on Saturday evening, May 28, on the Royal Road in Bon Accueil. The man hit a parapet on the road after losing control of his moped. An ambulance from the Service d’Aide Médicale d’Urgence (Samu) was dispatched to the scene of the accident. The doctor on board could only note the death of the victim.

It was at about 8:35 pm on Saturday evening, May 28, that this accident occurred. Shortly after being alerted of this case, a team of police officers from the Brisée-Verdière police station had to go to the scene. The moped was lying on the sidewalk between the parapet and the yard of a resident of this village, while the body of Yasdeo Mungur was not far from his two-wheeler. The doctor of the ambulance who examined the injured man unfortunately had to declare him dead.

He had several wounds on his body. The body was transported to the morgue of the Dr. A.G. Jeetoo Hospital, Port-Louis for an autopsy. The autopsy was performed by Dr. Sudesh Kumar Gungadin, head of the forensic department of the police on Sunday morning, May 29. The Brisée-Verdière police have initiated an investigation to find out the circumstances of this accident.

In addition, a 42-year-old gas station attendant living in Rivière du Poste was injured in a traffic accident that occurred around 11:30 pm on Saturday evening, May 28. He lost control of his motorcycle on the Royal Road in La Flora and ended up on the asphalt. A breathalyzer test conducted at the scene was positive. Injured, he was admitted to the Jawaharlall Nehru Hospital in Rose-Belle.
