Mauritius Still In Scarlet List For Reunion

A novelty in the restrictions this Wednesday 08 December. Even if France has removed the restrictions on Mauritius by removing us from the Scarlet Red list to its Red list, the Prefect of Reunion maintains it except for travel under compelling reasons.

Free travel between the two sister islands is prohibited. No tourism and no travelling for students.  The tourism sector will not be able to count Reunion Island in its year-end revenues. This measure concerns all passengers, regardless of vaccination status.

Only important trips will be allowed.  Here is the list of compelling reasons for travel between the two islands:

To a country classified as “scarlet”:

  • Foreign nationals returning to their country;
  • Death of a direct family member (grandparents, parents, children and siblings);
  • Visit of a family member with a life-threatening condition;
  • Travel for custody rights;
  • Transport professionals;
  • Court summons;
  • Execution of a deportation order;
  • Health or research professional involved in the fight against Covid-19;
  • Vital medical emergency;
  • Non-reprogrammable diplomatic missions;
  • From a country classified as “scarlet”;
  • French nationals from the European Union;
  • Foreign national with a valid residence permit;
  • Traveller in transit;
  • Foreign nationals on a diplomatic mission;
  • Workers in the land, sea or air transport sector
