Kistnen Case: “I never Said I had Conducted An Investigation” – Says Pravind Jugnauth

Must Read

The Prime Minister answered questions from the press on Saturday after the MSM’s political bureau meeting. He was asked about a variety of issues, including the Kistnen case. Asked to comment on the fact that he had allegedly said that he had conducted “his own investigation” and had come to the conclusion that he can trust Yogida Sawmynaden, Pravind Jugnauth said that he had never made such a statement. “When did I say that? You have to stop saying or passing on false news,” he said, before pointing out that there is an ongoing judicial inquiry and that he prefers not to comment.

The MSM leader acknowledged that there is an increase in cases of infection. He said it is however important to see how many people develop a severe form of the disease. He also announced a change in protocol. The government is working on it, he said, adding that it will be announced very soon.

Pravind Jugnauth said the country made good progress in terms of protection. “What is the alternative? Do we want another lockdown? Do we have to close the country? We have to be realistic. I am very happy with the vaccination rate. It shows that the majority of the population has not listened to the anti-patriots,” he said. Referring to the concept of self-isolation, he said that not all asymptomatic cases require hospital admission.

He also said that “the silent majority” is satisfied with the actions of the government and that in 2014 and 2019, those who were confident of winning bit their fingers off. The political bureau has decided to appoint Maneesh Gobin as general secretary and Mahen Seeruttun as assistant general secretary.
