It was shortly after 9pm on the evening of Sunday July 9 that this 33-year-old policeman from the village of Montagne Longue went to the local police station to report a case of food poisoning. The case concerned a tin of milk he had bought for the sum of Rs 633 in a Crève-Cœur supermarket at around 5 p.m. on Friday July 7.

Since then, his son has been fed with this milk. In the early evening of Sunday July 9, at around 7 p.m., the infant’s health deteriorated. He called for an ambulance to take his son to the northern hospital. After being seen by a pediatrician, the baby was admitted for observation at the hospital with his mother.
