Hotels Occupancy Rates To Reach 20% to 25% In July

Based on reservations in the 14 hotels that will be operational during the soft re-opening of borders, AHRIM expects occupancy rates ranging between 20% and 25%.

Hotels’ occupancy rates for the month of July are expected to be between 20 and 25% according to the AHRIM, Mauritius’ main Association of Hotel and Restaurant Owners. According the Vice-President of the Association, Desire Elliah, given the difficult circumstances linked to the pandemic and to the availability of flights, the forecasted results for the month of July meet expectations.

Only 14 Hotels will be operational as from July 15, the day Mauritius partially re-opens borders.

According to the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, Mauritius has suffered from a 78% drop in arrival as compared to a 74% average drop registered worldwide.

Hotel prices in Mauritius for the 14 days mandatory quarantine period ranges between Rs. 78,570 and Rs. 525,419.

Mandatory hotel quarantine prices vary from countries to countries. In Ireland for example, visitors must pay for a minimum of a 12-night stay costing in average 1875 euros for one person and 625 euros for another adult sharing the room, the equivalent of approximately Rs 93,000 for a single person and Rs. 31,000 for anyone above 12 years old sharing the room.
