Grant Thornton Mauritius Celebrates The Emancipation Of Women Entrepreneurs

Must Read

Since its establishment in Mauritius in 1999, Grant Thornton, a recognized leader in auditing and accounting, has always favoured a strong commitment to corporate social responsibility and sustainable development. This commitment recently crystallized with the successful completion of the ‘JA ITS TYME’ program, designed in collaboration with the NGO Junior Achievement (JA) MASCAREIGNES to support and train women entrepreneurs.

Following four days of training and mentoring, Grant Thornton is delighted to present diplomas to the participating women entrepreneurs. This diploma not only symbolizes the end of a formative chapter, but also marks a decisive step in their entrepreneurial trajectory.

Mariam Rajabally, Partner at Grant Thornton, commented: “Our collaboration with ‘JA ITS TYME’ reflects our commitment to supporting these women entrepreneurs, equipping them with the resources and expertise they need to better manage their small businesses. Attending their graduation today is a proud moment for us. We are deeply invested in their success and look forward to seeing their businesses flourish.”

The program, funded by Grant Thornton through the CSR Fund, offered the 30 participants intensive sessions focusing on business set-up, financial management, accounting and taxation.

Laurence Forget-Ramah, Director of JA Mascareignes Maurice, said, “Since its inception in 2018, the JA ITS TYME program has benefited more than 1,000 beneficiaries. The flexibility of this program to adapt to various profiles is undoubtedly one of its greatest assets. Our gratitude to Grant Thornton is immense; their strategic support amplifies the scope of our mission to enhance the quality of life of entrepreneurs.”

Continuing in this vein, Grant Thornton and JA Mascareignes intend to renew this commitment to the community in order to support more young people and women entrepreneurs. This initiative will encourage women entrepreneurs to promote their entrepreneurial talents and cope with business expenses.
