Feed Mauritius: A Project To Alleviate Hunger Across The Island

Must Read

To enable as many Mauritians as possible to eat their fill. This is the objective of the Feed Mauritius project. Initiated by the fast-food restaurant The Food Factory, the directors invite Mauritians who want to help, to join the movement.

“Today we have no right to be hungry”. Extracted from ‘La chanson des Restos’ this sentence is the leitmotiv of the Feed Mauritius movement. Initiated by the directors of The Food Factory – a fast food restaurant located in Sottise, the project aims at providing a hot meal to the most vulnerable in society. “Vikram Sevathean has been a great inspiration to us. His determination to serve food to the needy encouraged us to join his fight. This is how the Feed Mauritius project was born,” explains Ajmal Tincowree, one of the three directors of The Food Factory.

The movement launches an appeal to patrons.

The first outing of Feed Mauritius took place on November 6 on the beach of Pointe aux Roches in the south of the country: “We had a great time with 100 children from St Hilaire and St Hubert. For the occasion, we served them a hot meal that we cooked on the spot with the collaboration of our team and Vikram.

The movement intends to repeat the initiative in other localities across the island: “We want to help many more people by going to several localities and as often as possible.  But we need everyone’s help. Those who want to give us a hand can contact us on 52 53 17 55 or by sending a message on the Feed Mauritius page.
