Father And Son Injured In Motorcycle Accident

A collision between a motorcycle and a garbage truck left two people injured late Monday afternoon, Jan. 10, on Royal Road in Bramsthan. The driver of the Suzuki motorcycle, a 42 year old man, and his 18 year old son, who was travelling as a passenger in the back seat, were injured. The two local residents were taken to the Dr. Bruno Cheong Hospital in Flacq for treatment. The driver was admitted to the intensive care unit. His prognosis is life-threatening. His son was able to leave the hospital after receiving treatment.

Shortly before 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 10th, a request was made to the Flacq Police Station regarding an accident on the Royal Road in Bramsthan near Ubhee Hardware Shop. There was a collision between a motorcycle and a garbage truck driven by a 79 year old male resident of Riche-Mare.

The driver of the motorcycle was seriously injured. The driver of the truck was given a breathalyzer test, which was negative. The young passenger in the back of the truck has not been able to give a statement so far.

Also, on the same day at about 4:50 p.m., a motorcycle hit a cyclist on the Route Royale de Plaine de Gersigny in Flacq. The driver of the motorcycle tested positive for alcohol. He had 77 micrograms of alcohol in his breath. He is a 25-year-old contractor and lives in Rouge Gorge, Camp de Masque. The cyclist, 21 years old, lives in Plaine de Gersigny. Injured, he was taken to the hospital of Flacq where he was admitted in ward.

An investigation was opened in both cases to know the circumstances of these accidents.
