The police have zero tolerance. That’s how a 26-year-old police officer assigned to the Special Mobile Force (SMF) was arrested on Tuesday, November 2. This after the dark blue Toyota he was driving was involved in a traffic accident on Chemin Vingt-Pieds, Grand-Baie with a Mitsubishi. The officer living on Royal Road in Terre-Rouge was given a breathalyzer test by Emergency Response Service (ERS) officers which was negative. The driver of the Mitsubishi tested negative for alcohol. The officer had seventy-three micrograms of alcohol in his breath.

It was around 4:45 in the late afternoon of Tuesday, November 2 that this accident occurred at Chemin Vingt-Pieds, Grand Bay. In addition to the driver, there was another passenger in the white Mitsubishi. Both injured were evacuated to the North Hospital by RHS personnel.

Both vehicles were damaged. At the time of this accident the road was dry and in good condition. No public infrastructure was damaged. A police photographer and a draftsman were called to the scene of the accident to take pictures and measurements at the location.
