The fatality of the virus is diminishing. The number of positive cases, admissions and deaths is decreasing. Vaccination, on the other hand, has peaked, especially with the second booster dose, where 638 people were vaccinated in the two days of the campaign.
Positivity falling
In one week, the Ministry reported 330 local and 79 imported positive cases. The 5 regional hospitals have recorded 22 admissions and the new ENT Hospital has 21 admissions, including 1 under artificial respiration and partially vaccinated and 13 under oxygen, of which 5 duly vaccinated, 2 partially vaccinated and 6 unvaccinated. On Friday 15 April, 17 new cases were reported and 9 admissions, including 1 at the New ENT Hospital. In Rodrigues, the number of positive cases is 7 out of 143 PCR tests conducted. The treatment center has admitted 1 serious case.
4th dose – 638 vaccinated
Vaccination progress shown is 1,006,802 for the first dose for Mauritius and 32,230 for Rodrigues, 972, 316 for the second dose in Mauritius and 31,708 in Rodrigues. The third/first booster dose for Rodrigues is 13,634 and 614,851 in Mauritius, of which 240,166 is Johnson & Johnson, 8,809 is Sinopharm, 2,825 is Astra Zeneca, 257,844 is Pfizer and 91,569 is Moderna. For the fourth/second booster dose, the total is 638, of which 611 were given the Pfizer, 22 the Moderna and 5 the Johnson & Johnson.
The dose for under 18s is 74,933 for the first dose and 68,308 for the second.
