Sad but very worrying results for this 2nd December. Today’s count is 4 deaths from the ENT hospital and about 15 recorded by the undertakers while there were 20 deaths as of 01 December from regional hospitals.
The cases are getting younger. In an ascending form, a 25-year-old woman, Soonanda Mohun of Goodlands died the same day she received her Booster dose of Pfizer. She had no specific health conditions to report but her condition deteriorated within hours of her vaccination. She was taken to the SSRN Hospital, the same place where she received her third dose. She died in the early hours of December 02. An autopsy was performed on the victim and a police investigation was opened on the same day.
At the ENT Hospital in Vacoas, there are four confirmed deaths due to the Covid 19 Virus, namely the case of Constable Mithun Neerunjun, 37 years old and resident of Melville, Grand Gaube and three other cases aged 38, 47 and 63 years respectively.
The undertakers announced 15 processions according to Covid protocols with 6 from Moura, 5 from Elie & Sons, 3 from Al Ihsan and 2 from Om Shanti.
Namely, as of 01 December, 20 deaths from the Covid Wards have been registered. They were 5 from Victoria Hospital in Candos, 5 from Dr Bruno Cheong Hospital in Flacq, 5 from Jeetoo Hospital in Port Louis, 4 from SSRN Hospital and 1 from Jawaharlall Nehru Hospital in Rose Belle.
105 new cases on Thursday
This is the count for this Thursday 02 December. The Ministry of Health also revealed the admission of 3 patients to New ENT Hospital. 38 new admissions were recorded in the 5 regional hospitals of the country from which 42 people were cured. Since March 2021, the country has recorded 21,760 positive cases of which 19,923 patients have been cured. 928,232 people are primo vaccinated and 895,054 have received both doses. The booster dose inoculation rate is 105,934.
Whether Omicron is circulating in the country or not, it is only the results of the long-awaited sequencing that will reveal it. Nevertheless, it is good to know, according to the WHO and the results of numerous studies that this new variant does not spare anyone, not even a person cured of Covid. This variant, which currently has 32 mutations, is still being studied in terms of its speed of propagation, its dangerousness and its resistance to vaccines.
