Covid 19: 15 New Cases Identified

The Department of Health and Welfare laboratories performed 1,787 PCR tests on Thursday, June 30, 2021. The latest results were obtained late in the evening.

  • 4 cases were detected at the COVID-19 Testing Centre of the Dr. A.G Jeetoo Hospital. They are two residents of Port Louis, one resident of Terre Rouge and one resident of Coromandel. Epidemiological links have already been established.
  • 11 cases have been detected within the same family in Terre Rouge. These cases were detected by self-testing and subsequently confirmed by expanded PCR screening within this family. Epidemiologic links have already been established.

1,249 people have contracted COVID-19 since March 5 and as of yesterday afternoon, 960 of them, considered cured, were able to return home.

The country has 271 active cases of COVID-19 and as of this morning, only 21 of them were admitted to the New ENT Hospital due to pre-existing comorbidities or mild symptoms requiring medical monitoring.
