The leaders of the Alliance de l’Espoir was faced the press Saturday morning. The MMM leader began by congratulating Nando Bodha on the creation of his party. He then spoke about the events that took place in Parliament on Tuesday, including the expulsion of Arvin Boolell. “The Speaker is worse than ever. He is a rude character. I condemn the suspension of Arvin Boolell and the Prime Minister who brought the motion,” he said. Paul Bérenger also denounced the fact that the Minister of Finance refused to give information on the money disbursed by the Mauritius Investment Corporation.
The MMM leader once again denounced the law that will install the new pension system. “It is a time bomb,” he said. He added that the leaders of the Rassemblement de l’Espoir wanted a “united front against such an abuse”. But the PTr, he said, decided otherwise. “Navin Ramgoolam broke that momentum. We are disappointed by the PTr’s zig zag”, he said.
Nando Bodha, for his part, focused on the UN Human Rights Committee’s decision on the biometric identity card case. He said that this is “a very hard” decision against the Mauritian state.
Xavier-Luc Duval : all institutions have been devalued
Xavier-Luc Duval called for the abolition of the Rs 2 tax on each litre of fuel. He also denounced the general rise in prices of consumer products.
He said all institutions have been devalued, due to the actions of the government.
He also referred to the fact that non-meritorious people have benefited from the financial assistance of the Mauritius Investment Corporation.
