On Thursday 13th January 2022, the Labour Party held its first press conference for the year 2022. Among the various topics raised by Dr. Arvin Boolell, he and his colleagues once again demanded the resignation of the Minister of Health, Dr. Kailesh Jagutal. Dr. Arvin Boolell stated that the “Health Minister, Kailesh Jagutpal has repeatedly misled parliament. He must resign”
The main reason for this claim is that Minister Jagutpal misled the parliament which is supposed to be the ‘Temple of Democracy’. To support his statement, Arvin Boolell cited three examples; the first concerning medicines, the second one concerning the number of deaths attributed to Covid-19, and the third one concerning the purchase of Molnupiravir tablets.
Concerning the recounting process for Constituency no 19, Arvin Boolell saluted the action taken by Irfan Rahman, the Electoral Commissioner. According to him, the latter acted in the public interest and showed his independence. As for the speaker of the national assembly, he should resign in the name of political morality. Also commenting on the depreciation of the Mauritian Rupees, “we are not far from facing the Zimbabwe effect, where Mauritian people will have money but will not be able to use it at all. “
The prediction of the PTr for this year is that 2022 is the year of all combats, the year of all challenges, especially in the political, economic, and social sectors. 2022 will also be a year of great danger.
