Anoxia is Mohan Kumar’s first short film. Officially launched on September 21 at the Mciné cinema in Trianon, the film will compete at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival.
By the age of 10, Mohan had already made his first horror film. Since then, this passion has never left her. So much so that, after seven months’ work, the young self-taught director has just completed his first short film: “Anoxia takes place in a future where a huge explosion has taken place, changing our atmosphere to such an extent that oxygen is running out. The protagonist must urgently find another gas to survive,” explains Mohan.
Mohan Kumar now hopes to compete in international film festivals with his film: “That’s indeed the goal I’ve set myself. With the help of the Mauritius Film Development Corporation (MFDC), we are in the process of arranging for Anoxia to be shown at the next Cannes Film Festival. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
The film will soon be available on YouTube.
