In his address, Mr Toussaint highlighted that this rebranding does not limit itself to the visual identity but also aims to bring along a change in mindset, and that the Ministry will do its best to give due importance and attention to youth and sports.

Furthermore, Minister Toussaint underscored that this rebranding will allow Youth Volunteer Mauritius to align itself with international institutions as well as to be recognised and assisted financially by different international bodies.

Youth Volunteer Mauritius, the Minister underscored, aims to create opportunities for youth to engage in volunteering activities at regional and national levels. He lauded the youth’s engagement and participation through volunteering, adding that it has the power to foster an environment where young Mauritians are able to bring in their energy, passion, creativity as well as innovative solutions to pressing issues relevant to them as well as for the society at large.

Mr Toussaint also announced the kick-start of a Blood Donation Campaign today, which has been organised by his Ministry, in collaboration with various stakeholders, including the Blood Donors Association, and expressed his gratitude to the stakeholders contributing to this noble cause.

This year, he noted, the stock of blood and blood products has been severely impacted by the COVID-19 crisis. In this context, he underlined that regular blood donations are required from a sustainable number of healthy donors, especially young donors, so as to ensure the availability of safe blood whenever it is needed.

As regards the World Walking Day to be observed on 3 October 2021 at national level, Minister Toussaint appealed to the population to practise physical activities on a regular basis as this will help develop physical and mental strength, and therefore help succeed in the face of adversities such as the COVID-19 pandemic.

For her part, Mrs Jugnauth highlighted that Volunteer Mauritius is embarking on a very important phase of its journey through this rebranding and, to mark this turning point, it has devised a brand-new logo that better reflects the scope of its activities.

In addition, she indicated that Volunteer Mauritius has always been very attentive to the needs of the youth, hence the objective of rebranding it as Youth Volunteer Mauritius.

Mrs Jugnauth underlined that as the world faces an unprecedented health crisis due to COVID-19, many young people are eager to get involved and participate in civic activities. On this score, she reiterated the need to create suitable conditions for more actions that promote the values of citizenship and solidarity amongst the youth, as well as instil an ethic of responsibility in those who will be responsible for the country’s development in the future.
