Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth unveiled the bust of Pandit Rajendra Arun at the Ramayana Centre, Union Park in front of an audience of guests.
Shri Rajendra Arun, a scholar of Ramayana and Indian philosophy was the founder and chairman of the Ramayana Centre, Mauritius created in 2001 at his request by the Mauritian government. The mission of the foundation was the promotion and propagation of the spiritual, social and cultural values of Ramayana in Mauritius.
On his Facebook page, the PM wrote: “I would like to salute the memory of Pandit Rajendra Arun and thank him for his invaluable contribution to the propagation of the universal Ramayana teaching in Mauritius.
Shri Rajendra Arun, passed away last year, just over a month before his 76th birthday.
