Sergio Pérez Wins Formula One Azerbaijan Grand Prix

Must Read

Red Bull’s Sergio Perez won his second Formula one Grand Prix at Baku, Azerbaijan on June 6, Sunday. The Mexican which started the race at the 6th position in the grid went on to win the dramatic and chaotic Formula One Grand Prix at Baku. Sergio Perez later, revealed as to how close he was to retire the car. He said, “We were close to retiring the car, but luckily we managed to finish the race. And really, it was quite difficult all the way until the end.”

The dramatic victory of Sergio Perez came after his teammate, running at the first position, had to face a tyre issue which led him to crash his car, just 4 laps before the end of the race. The Grand Prix also saw a slight tussle between Hamilton and Sergio Perez after the grid restarted, but as Hamilton drove straight into Turn 1 due to brake pads issue, Sergio drove home to win the race.

Sergio Perez was joined by Sebatian Vettel (Aston Martin) and Pierre Gasly (Alpha Tauri) in the second and third place respectively. Perez is only the second Mexican to win in Formula One – after Pedro Rodriguez’s victory in 1967 South African Grand Prix and 1970 Belgian Grand Prix.
