School Van Driver Arrested For Drug Trafficking

The information obtained by men of the Flying Squad, Alpha 3 of the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (ADSU), to the effect that a school van driver operating in Cité La Cure was involved in drug trafficking, proved to be true. Indeed, this Wednesday, September 22, this man, Poobarlen Goindoo, 44 years old was arrested at the wheel of his vehicle. After a search made in his van, these policemen found in a bag which was containing two hundred and twenty five grams of cannabis, 1094 seeds of this drug, two electronic scales and the sum of Rs 324 500 suspected to come from the sale of this drug were seized.

It is around 10 am this Wednesday September 22, that an operation was mounted in Cité La Cure by this team led by sergeant Korrimboccus after hours of surveillance.  The suspect, who lives in this locality, was arrested while driving his vehicle. A search made allowed to find in this vehicle a bag. This one containing cannabis, that is to say two hundred and twenty-five grams, 1094 seeds of this drug and Rs 324 500 that the Flying Squad suspects of coming from the sale of cannabis.

The suspect was then taken to the ADSU headquarters at Central Barracks where the cannabis was weighed and the seeds and money were counted. The suspect was then taken to his home for a search. However no drugs were found. The suspect will be brought before the court of Port-Louis this Thursday, September 23, to answer a provisional charge of drug trafficking.
