A raid by police officers from the Metropolitan Division’s Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (Adsu) on the home of a Stateland driver living at the end of Rue Sir Robert Scott, Cité La Cure resulted in the seizure of drugs, including cannabis, plants and seeds. The drug has a street value of Rs 1,363,000. Suspect Jean Brayan Judex Musette, a 22-year-old driver, was arrested on provisional charges of drug trafficking.
On the basis of certain information and after hours of surveillance, the team of police officers led by Sergeant Naraydoo arrived at Brayan Musette’s home at around 25:25 on the afternoon of Thursday June 15. A search revealed three plastic bags containing cannabis, three hundred seeds of the drug, an electronic scale with traces of cannabis, thirty resealable bags and a sum of Rs 47,200, suspected to be from the sale of the drug.
Two hundred and twenty-eight cannabis plants measuring between five and one and a half metres were also uprooted in his yard. On Friday June 16, Brayan Musette was brought before the Pamplemousses court on a provisional charge of drug trafficking, and even possession of cannabis for distribution. He was subsequently returned to his cell at the Piton detention center.
