Rodriguan Woman Arrested For The Cultivation Of 116 Cannabis Plants

A raid by police officers of the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (Adsu) of Port-Mathurin at the home of Marie Josiane Jolicoeur, also known as Yanne, 59 years old in Cascade Jean Louis, on Wednesday morning led to the discovery of one hundred and sixteen cannabis plants. Those which measure between ten to one meter five centimeters with a market value of Rs 348 000.

Illegal Cannabis Cultivation

It is on the basis of certain information to the effect that this woman was engaged in drug trafficking that the men of the sergeant Perrine mounted a surveillance. They then arrived at the woman’s home around 7 am on Wednesday January 19. The information turned out to be true. More than one hundred cannabis plants were cultivated in the yard of this fifty-year-old woman.

Jugasing Seeruthun has already been brought before the court of Rose-Hill during the day of Wednesday, January 19. He is facing a provisional charge of drug trafficking. He was taken to a cell in the central prison of Beau-Bassin.
