Road Closure At Macondé For Rock Purging Work From 9.00 Hrs To 15.00 Hrs On Normal Working Days

The Public is hereby informed that due to rocks purging works and installation of rock nets by Sotravic Ltd on the Macondé cliff, found along the Black River Savanne Coast Road B9 near La Prairie, the road will be closed to traffic in both directions from 9.00 hrs to 15.00 hrs on normal working days. The road will normally be opened to traffic outside the working hours and during weekends and public holidays. The road closure will be effective as from 9th October 2023 for a duration of 8 weeks.

Accordingly, during the road closure time, a traffic diversion scheme has been set up and would be implemented as follows:

All traffic along the road at Macondé will be diverted along the Baie Du Cap- Chamarel-Case Noyale Road B104 at Baie du Cap and Case Noyale.

Traffic from Baie du Cap heading towards Le Morne and Tamarin will be diverted along the Baie Du Cap-Chamarel-Case Noyale Road B104 to Case Noyale for their onwards journey.

Traffic from Case Noyale heading towards Baie du Cap and Bel Ombre will be diverted along Baie Du Cap-Chamarel-Case Noyale Road B104 to Baie du Cap for their onward journey.

Normal bus routes would be operational up to Case Noyale and Baie du Cap so as not to disrupt the operation and frequency of bus services.

During the road closure time, bus users are informed that bus shuttle services will be provided from the Baie Du Cap traffic Centre to Case-Noyale and vice-versa to allow them to join their normal bus routes.

Traffic signs will be placed to guide road users and Police assistance will be provided.

Drivers are advised to be cautious when approaching the working areas and obey the traffic signs.

The Ministry apologies for any inconveniences caused and relies on the cooperation and understanding of the road users.
