Must Read

During the launching of a new project linking La Vigie to La Brasserie, the Prime Minister, Pravind Kumar Jugnauth has declared to the Press that the government is continuing with its plan to construct more road to modernize these infrastructures with the main objective to ease the traveling from one region to the other across the island and at the same time, to decongestion our roads.

With this new project, there will be the construction of a new road linking La Vigie to Flic-en-Flac. The project will be divided in 3 phases, with the 1st phase being launched today. As mentioned, the 1st phase, which has been allocated to General Construction, will connect La Vigie to La Marie.

The 2nd phase conerne La Marie to Beau Songes and the 3rd phase  Beau Songes to Flic-En-Flac will be constructed in a near future. The Prime Minister stated that despite all the difficulties the government is facing, especially in the current situation, “we keep on developing and modernizing our country… We have plans for the next fifty years and more… You will soon see that more developments are on their way…

During his declaration to the Press, Pravind Jugnauth didn’t hide his satisfaction concerning the Chagos Archipelago. He expressed his pride on seeing the Mauritian Flag floating on Chagos and he also spoke about the position the UK took concerning this expedition, “Fer Pitier“.

According to the PM, the judgment of the International Court of Justice clearly states that the UK is violating International Law by refusing to return the Chagos to Mauritius. He added that “We have also won a resolution with the majority of votes at the UN Assembly, and this clearly states that the UK has to leave the Chagos.”

Recently, there was a binding judgment from the Tribunal which supports the Judgment of the International Court of Justice that the reclamation of the UK on Chagos is a “mere assertion“. They have no rights on Chagos and are in the obligation to return Chagos to Mauritius. Despite all the Uk is speaking of the Rule of Law.

The Prime Minister hopes that the United Kingdom will put into practice the principles he has always supportted and will defend it in the near future.

Pravind Jugnauth also commented on the dispute between two opposition politicians on a private radio station: “We find that members of the opposition are fighting among themselves. They are ridiculous. We don’t need them to help the government. We need to take responsibility and do our work. With three years to go before the next elections, they are discussing who will become Prime Minister, Speaker and President.”
