Constable Ootpulduth Jeeneea, 46 years old, also known as Bharat who has twenty one years of service in the police force was arrested this Tuesday afternoon of October 19 for cultivating cannabis. His arrest was made by the men of Chief Inspector Rohomatally and sergeants Helene and Ramtohul of the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (Adsu) of the Northern Division following a search of his home in Plaine des Papayes. Two plastic bags containing respectively five hundred and thirty-nine cannabis seeds, 104.40 grams of cannabis and eighty-one cannabis plants which were cultivated in a greenhouse. These plants measure between three centimeters and one meter fifty-five.
Having obtained information that the policeman Ootpulduth Jeeneea assigned to the police station of Baie du Tombeau was engaged in drug trafficking, this team of Adsu after hours of surveillance landed at his home. This is how they came across two plastic bags. One containing five hundred and thirty-nine cannabis seeds weighing 5.85 grams and the second 109.40 grams of the same drug.
In a greenhouse on the roof of his house, the men of Adsu discovered eighty-one cannabis plants. These measuring three centimeters to one meter fifty-five weigh 5.2 kilos. The arrested suspect was taken to the Adsu office in Grand-Baie for questioning. Another police officer, Ritesh Doogour, 26 years old, assigned to the Special Mobile Force, was arrested on Monday, October 18 by a team of the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (Adsu) of the Eastern Division. This after he was found in possession of two doses of synthetic drugs, 2.1 grams. His arrest was made by the men of inspector Ramchurn.
It is on the basis of suspicions that this inhabitant of Nouvelle Découverte was involved in drug trafficking that these policemen of Adsu arrived at his home around 12:55 pm for a search. This exercise proved to be successful.
